Nature Craft Homestay, Chikmagalur, Karnataka
What a lovely hospitable family! Ansar and his family were delightful. We were welcomed with juice from fruits freshly picked from their garden. The room had fresh flowers and creative little decorative touches by our warm and friendly hostess,
Ansar's mum, who also had a host of interesting anecdotes to relate. An adjoining shop has a collection stuff made by Ansar's father, from coffee stumps.
Best Experience: Ansar was very helpful in suggesting what we could do with our time and arranging it. I have a weakness for coffee, and he arranges for us to visit a shop with coffee n accessories, which his friend very kindly opened up just for us, tho' it was a Sunday.

Kurumba Village Resort,Coonoor,Tamil Nadu
Strictly for nature buffs only. Its in a beautiful forest location, peaceful, nice walks, good trekking area, pleasant climate. But that's all that you get.
The 'hospitality' is quite missing - no room service, confused menu, no variety in food, quality of food very poor. Even the housekeping was not done properly, rooms not clean enough, phone was not working and it took them 1 day to repair it, bed so uncomfartbale it gave me a backache ! Though the rooms had a great view and it was wonderful to breathe in the fresh air all these things made our stay very uncomfartbale. And please make sure that you make all arrangements in advance before checking into Kurumba because they do not make any effort to make your stay more comfortable unless they have been told earlier. It does not matter what the situation is. We were travelling with our 6 month old baby and had to climb 50 odd steps to go to the restaurant for all our meals (they were unable to give us another room). They also did not extend our check-out time though we requested them 2 days in advance before check-out and offered to pay extra for the late check-out. Instead they suggested some seedy lodge in Coonoor for us to stay till it was time to catch the train (we were catching the 7.30 pm train rom mettupalayam to chennai).
